Great Questions To Help You Get The Most Out Of Life

Aug 27th, 2008 | By Dan O'Neil | Category: inspiration

Here’s my list of great questions to ask yourself to get the most out of your life:

  1. How can you be happier?
  2. What difference have you made to someone’s life recently?
  3. If anything were possible, how would your life be different today?
  4. If you could only do one more thing in your life, what would it be?
  5. What are the top 5 qualities you have that you’d like to be remembered for?
  6. What have you done that you are most proud of?
  7. If you could live anywhere, where would you live?
  8. What 3 things can you change about yourself to make yourself a better person?
  9. What are your top 10 life goals?
  10. Are you willing to make changes to your life to improve your circumstances?
  11. [Jeff asks...]Are you willing to lean toward longer term goals instead of shorter ones?
  12. [Lisa asks...]What is something new that you have learned today?
  13. [Martha asks...]What did you learn today?  (Similar but different!)
  14. [Chris asks...]Are you always trying to improve something in your life or surroundings each day?

I’d love to hear your own ideas for other questions we can ask ourselves – leave a comment below and I’ll add them to the list.

  1. that’s already a pretty good list. the ones that i find most important are how i’ve made a difference in other persons’ lives and how i want to be remembered. they make it much easier to focus on those things that really matter in life, minimizing the importance of the chaff.

i really can’t think of another question to ask. but then again, it isn’t the number of questions that matters, but the constant reminding one’s self about what’s important. if even one question can do that, then that may be all you need.

Dan O’Neil says… Nice point Kouji, thanks!

Next question: Are you willing to lean toward longer term goals instead of shorter ones?

BTW nice list. Thank you :-)

Dan O’Neil says… Thanks Jeff – nice one – for some people it might be that they already do and can’t see the short ones!

  3. I always ask myself, “What is something new that you have learned today?” as I am a big proponent in continual learning.

    Dan O’Neil says… Thanks Lisa – added.

  4. Those are some great questions! It’s been a long time since I’ve really asked myself any of these! Thanks for the list – it might be what I need to be a little more focused on my work :)

  5. now you make me think for a moment about my goals :) . This is a pretty good list and there is nothing to add it but the question..What did you learn today? is the one I think fit in there too.

Dan O’Neil says… Thanks Martha, I’ll add that one to the list.

  6. I used to do such things. I wake up in the moring and ask myself a series of quetions…But it turned out to be I would like to do it before I fall asleep.Anyway, I think it’s quite helpful for a person to rethink his or her own life evry now and then.To make sure what you are living for.

Dan O’Neil says… I like that last sentence a lot!!

  7. chris@diet says:

I think another one should be.
